SULITATA

The illustrator of SULITATA is an Amis artist born and raised in Dulan, a coastal Indigenous community in Taitung, Taiwan.

She left her hometown as a teenager to study and later worked in different cities before eventually returning to the east coast.

Growing up, she witnessed many people around her leaving home in search of new opportunities. Some returned, while others continued their journeys elsewhere.

These experiences became the inspiration behind SULITATA, an octopus born with a suitcase for a head.

Through her colorful acrylic paintings, she explores the quiet moments of leaving, waiting, wandering, and belonging.

Her stories don't always have clear destinations or endings. Instead, they leave room for each viewer to find something of their own.
